The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig are proud to announce the Anita Young Bursaries for Mid-Career Painters, in association with the RHA Gallery and the Royal Ulster Academy, Belfast.
Watercolour artist, Anita Young, was born in Mansfield, England, and trained at the Central School of Art and Design in London.v She taught for sixteen years in London, and exhibited regularly in art centres and galleries in England, Ireland, and later in New Zealand. A regular visitor to the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Anita Young left us a generous bequest in her will. Her bequest contained stipulations that we have carried out according to her instructions, and as a result, we at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre are delighted to announce the arrival of two new bursaries for mid-career painters.
In association with the RUA, Belfast, TGC is proud to announce the Anita Young Bursary for a mid-career painter, the winner of which will be chosen from among all mid-career painters exhibiting in the RUA annual exhibition (members, invited artists, and selected artists). The bursary offers a two week residency, with the use of a studio, at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, with travel costs awarded by the RUA. The Anita Young Bursary for a Mid-Career Painter in Association with the Tyrone Guthrie Centre and the RUA will run for five years. The first winner will be selected at the annual RUA exhibition in 2021, and will take up their bursary in 2022.
