New survey reveals Arts organisations in NI remain under significant post-Covid pressures

Findings from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Annual Funding Survey published on Friday 30th September, covering the period 1st April 2021 – 31st March 2022, show how the Covid-19 pandemic continued to have a significant and long-lasting impact on arts organisations, from planning and programming to staffing and finances.

While there was some improvement on the previous year’s report, with a marginal increase in full-time employment opportunities and more performances taking place, the outlook for the current year remains uncertain. Northern Ireland’s key arts companies have reached 45% of audience levels compared to the pre- pandemic year 2018/19, and prepare for another difficult year ahead, amid extraordinary increases in the cost of living.
