The Ulster Youth Orchestra celebrated its 30th Anniversary with two concerts last week in Dublin and Belfast. The concerts featured a new commission to mark the occasion by composer Greg Caffrey, performances by UYO’s patrons, Barry Douglas and Michael McHale, plus a show-stopping West Side Story finale.
Ahead of the concerts and following competitive auditions, 96 exceptional young musicians were selected to attend the annual UYO summer residential course. The young players, aged 14-23, received coaching by a team of highly-experienced professional tutors during the intensive 10-day course.
