On Tuesday, March 19th Ligoniel Healthy Living Centre launched their photo mural at Weavers Hill, Ligoniel Road . The workshops that led to this photo mural featured photographs from the area by students from Mercy College. The photo workshops were part of the “This is Me” project with Community Arts Partnership’s Community Engagement Programme and were facilitated by photographer Mathieu Decodts.
‘This Is Me’ tells stories of identity through film, animation, photography and music. For this project the participants gained new skills, became photographers and ultimately artists. Having this new mural enables their work to live beyond the project and enhances the area by bringing attention to the vibrant natural beauty that surrounds North Belfast.
The production of the photo mural was supported by Belfast City Council, PHA and CAP’s Community Engagement Programme which is also funded by BCC, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the National Lottery.
Thank you to all the artist participants who worked on this project as well as to Maria and Gerard from the Healthy Living Centre. Next up is a follow-on exhibition within Mercy College of the work by the young people.
