The Monthly interviews Indian writer and poet, based in Northern Ireland, Pallavi Padma-Uday – Part 4 – What is it that we have in common?

Where to now?

I have just finished two poetry collections and I am nearly finished a third collection which is striving to be a feminist work located in global contexts.

I am also working on a memoir based on my immigrant experience in Belfast. It doesn’t obsess over the question of privilege, or discrimination, but rather explores things that unite us. It doesn’t matter where you come from, whether Africa, India, or other countries, what is it that connects us, what is it that we have in common and what can we do with it?

I am also in the process of finishing my thesis and drawing from that work to write a book of non-fiction besides academic papers and other usual stuff. Beyond these, I just aim to keep writing.
