The Monthly discusses dance with Meghan Stevens, company dancer with Luail – Part 3 – Where to now?

How did it feel to join Luail, Ireland’s National Dance Company?

Amazing! I shifted from being a freelance dancer to working full-time for a company and that is a change, because it can be very difficult working as a freelancer, I was craving some stability so this came at the perfect time for me. It truly is a wonderful group of artists, I feel so inspired every day. To be part of something that is newly formed too is rare and such an exciting opportunity.

Where to now?

I am feeling really settled in Dublin and with Luail. There is so much to experience in this company, we have such an amazing line up of artists to work with I’m happy being fully immersed in this for now. In the summer I will also be performing “The Rite of Spring”, Pina Bausch Tanztheater, in Germany and that is also very exciting. Right now, I’m enjoying meeting new people, working on lots of new projects, developing my practice and exploring Ireland.

Everything is going well?

Right now, I am very content with where I am at in my career, feels like the right place for me to be.
