Dance Connects (2023-2025) is an interdisciplinary research project funded by Creative Ireland as part of the Shared Island dimension to the Creative Ireland Programme 2023-2027. It is led by Professor Aoife McGrath (Queen’s University Belfast) and Dr Victoria Durrer (University College Dublin), with research assistant Dr Argyro Tsampazi and Cavan County Council.
With the collaboration of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Monaghan County Council and 8 dance partners across the island, the project aims to establish a sustainable, rural dance network that engages in peer sharing and skill building. It will also develop: a publicly available, cross-border database of dance practitioners and dance venues in the area and a touring exhibition.
Dance Connects is currently circulating a call for surveys for dance facilitators, artists, and dance venues in Monaghan, Cavan, Fermanagh and Omagh. The survey will feed into the two publicly available databases: one for dance venues and one for dance facilitators and artists in the above-mentioned areas.
We’re looking to include local dance facilitators, artists, and local venues in two public databases: one of venues available or hireable for dance activity, and one of dance facilitators and artists working and/or based in the Cavan, Monaghan and Fermanagh-Omagh district council / local authority areas.
Complete the 5mins survey to be included in the Dance Facilitators and Artists Database.
Complete the 5mins survey to include your venue in the Venues for Dance Activity Database.
What if I think my practice/genre isn’t suitable for the database?
Please complete the survey anyway. The database is inclusive of various dance genres. Plus, by completing the survey you will help us build understanding about the local dance scene, community, and industry.
What if I think my venue isn’t suitable for dance?
Please complete the survey anyway. All kinds of dance activities can happen in different types of venues. Plus, by completing the survey you will help us understand what your venue is like so we can help build understanding about our local venues.
The database is part of the Dance Connects project. Funded by Creative Ireland, Dance Connects seeks to support a network of dance activity in the rural border area of Cavan, Monaghan, and Fermanagh-Omagh.
