Running from 25th July 2025 to 8th August 2025
Ulster University, Belfast, York Street
Ulster University’s Bamford Centre has partnered with The Rainbow Project, Cara-Friend, Belfast Pride Festival, Samaritans and Lifeline to create an emotive exhibition to highlight mental health struggles within the LGBTQIA+ Community and share amazing accounts of survival and recovery.
The launch of this exhibition will be held on Friday 25th July at 11am. We invite you to join us to view the exhibition and have a chat with LGBTQIA+ charities and mental health services who are supporting people across Northern Ireland.
Last year’s successful Belfast Pride Festival Theme of “Love Your Mind” helped raise awareness to the mental health crisis faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.
Stigma and shame around Mental Health and being part of the LGBTQIA+ community has fuelled this mental health crisis, and until we break down the stigma of talking or asking for help, this crisis will only continue to grow. This exhibition aims to show our community you are not alone, signpost to organisations who are providing support to LGBTQIA+ people and share positive accounts of survival and recovery.
We are asking the community to share images, stories, poems and artwork which illustrates what mental health means to you as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, whilst remembering those in our community we have lost due to poor mental health.
If you would like more information or to submit your story, please email: choice@ulster.ac.uk
*Due to the nature of the exhibition, some content may be upsetting. We will have mental health organisations and helplines involved throughout the exhibition to provide support.*
