Tina McGurren who runs ‘Modern Country Moves’ in Fermanagh shared her experience as a partner of this project:
‘Being part of the Dance Connects initiative has been a very rewarding experience for me.
It opened up a space where dance became a bridge across communities, cultures, and borders. I felt a strong sense of belonging and connection with people from all walks of life who share a passion for movement and expression through dance and music.
One of the most special parts of this journey was the opportunity to share my love for jiving and line dancing. Watching others engage with these dance forms—sometimes for the first time—was deeply meaningful.
I also loved learning about other genres I hadn’t explored before—like Flamenco, Sean-Nós, and urban styles—and the chance to meet people who carry these traditions forward with such pride. The exchanges were inspiring and sparked fresh ideas and lasting friendships.
This project showed me the power of diversity in dance and how much we can gain by stepping outside our usual rhythms.
I’m grateful to have been a part of something so inclusive and forward-thinking.’
