Light & Colour at Ulster Museum: A Weekend of Irish Painting using Gouache – starts 24 Jan 2026

Paint, experiment and learn about Irish art in this two-day immersive course at Ulster Museum with Make Space Studio

Delve into Irish art at this immersive weekend course with Make Space Studio.

Take inspiration from our Light from the West: Irish Art after 1870 exhibition, and study works such as Derrynane (in the Sun) by Jack Butler Yeats and Field of Corn by Roderic O’Conor.

Explore dynamic brushwork and vibrant palettes as you delve into the technique of gouache. There’ll be guided exercises and self-led development, so you can explore light, colour, and expressive brushwork.

This course is suitable for both beginners and improvers and is ideal for those wanting to deepen their understanding of Irish art while developing and refining their skills in a supportive environment.

Please note: This is a two-day course, so make sure you can come to both days. You’ll get the most out of the weekend by being there for the full creative experience!
