What kind of art do you produce?
Without a doubt, my art is predominantly digital. Nevertheless, as I’m drawn to all kinds of disciplines and to the idea of exploration and combination, I’ve also had the opportunity to experiment with other mediums. Thus, I’ve even worked with music and presented some exhibitions using conceptual art techniques. Still, my main form of expression remains digital, which is where I’ve produced most of my pieces.
¿Qué tipo de arte haces?
Sin lugar a dudas, mi arte es mayoritariamente digital. No obstante, como me atraen todas las disciplinas, y la idea de explorar y combinar, también he tenido la oportunidad de experimentar con otros medios. Así, he llegado incluso a trabajar con música y he tenido alguna exposición con técnicas de arte conceptual. Aun así, mi principal forma de expresión sigue siendo el digital, que es donde he producido la mayor parte de mis obras.
Do you show your art in exhibitions or is it mainly shown online using social media?
What you can see on social media is only a small portion of everything I’ve done, as I’ve exhibited my work on several occasions, both individually and collectively. My earlier exhibitions were focused on painting, as it was part of my exploratory process at the time. More recently, my work has shifted toward conceptual art, because I feel that this approach allows me to dig deeper into the questions I want to deal with through each piece.
¿Sueles mostrar tu arte en exposiciones o principalmente online a través de las redes sociales?
Lo que se puede ver en redes sociales es solo una pequeña parte de todo lo que he hecho, ya que he expuesto en diversas ocasiones, de manera individual y colectiva. Las primeras fueron de pintura, porque formaban parte de mi proceso de exploración en ese momento, mientras que las más recientes, en cambio, han estado vinculadas al arte conceptual, debido a que siento que ese enfoque me permite profundizar en los cuestionamientos que quiero tratar a través de cada pieza.
What kind of ideas or concepts do you explore when you’re making your work?
Primarily, my work has been shaped by my identity and the questions I’ve been asking myself for as long as I can remember. My creative process begins there, because it’s not only about personal reflections but also about concerns with a collective dimension. While I may feel that I’m in a different stage now, my practice has generally moved in that direction, and much of the work I’ve produced so far has revolved around the exploration of identity.
¿Qué tipo de ideas o conceptos exploras con tus obras?
Principalmente, mis obras han partido de mi identidad y de las preguntas que me he hecho desde siempre. Mis procesos creativos surgen de allí, porque no son sólo reflexiones individuales, sino de inquietudes que tienen también implicaciones colectivas. Aunque ahora quizás siento que estoy en una etapa distinta, mi prospección ha ido generalmente encaminada en esa dirección y las piezas que he producido hasta ahora se centraron en esa búsqueda identitaria.
Is there any specific thing about your identity you are exploring or is it a more general theme of the question of identity?
The exploration in my work emerges from the questions I ask myself at each stage of my life. As an example, my latest exhibition addressed my identity through the lens of what it means to be a woman. From my perspective, these categories are not rigid, which led me to navigate non-binary realities, only to realise that we were still bound by categories. At the end of the day, everything is a category, and each is assigned a form, a colour, a way of being. That was one of the questions driving my work at the time: why something is named in a certain way, and why it has to be that way.
¿Hay algún aspecto concreto de tu identidad que estés explorando o se trata más bien de un tema general sobre la cuestión de la identidad?
La exploración en mi trabajo surge de los cuestionamientos que me hago en cada etapa de mi vida. Mi última exposición, por ejemplo, abordaba mi identidad desde la construcción de lo que significa ser mujer. Desde mi punto de vista, estas categorías no tienen un sentido rígido, lo cual me llevó a interesarme por lo no binario, para terminar dándome cuenta de que seguíamos estando limitados por las categorías. Al final, todo es una categoría, y a cada una se le asigna una forma, un color, una manera de ser. Esa era una de las interrogantes que me movía entonces: por qué algo se nombra de cierta manera y por qué debe ser así.
Volviendo a tu pregunta, mis exploraciones han tendido a temas más amplios, más generales, porque también he reflexionado sobre mi identidad desde lo sexual y desde mi experiencia como mujer. En definitiva, diría que mi práctica depende mucho de mis inquietudes en cada momento.
