Music From A Diverse City 20th Anniversary – see Bandcamp

Recorded in Belfast 2005 and released 2nd January 2006, Beyond Skin’s Motion Project “Music From A Diverse City” became known as Northern Ireland’s earliest and most prominent intercultural music projects, and the first intercultural music album project produced in Belfast. The album was a collaboration of 42 musicians with roots representing 11 countries and featured anti-racism and protest songs and also reflected living in Belfast through the lens of people who were born there and migrated to Northern Ireland.

The album was later released on streaming services with extra tracks on Bandcamp. A lost mix of “Breaking Away” was recently found and 20 years later it has been released on BandCamp today (2nd January)

The project was inspired by 1 Giant Leap project. “Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman travelled the world to produce the 1 Giant Leap audio/visual project. I thought, I don’t need to travel the world to find amazing musicians from different cultural backgrounds, they are on my doorstep in my city

The Motion Project developed into a touring programme of performances and educational workshops and further productions including the Journey of Equals documentary
