Fighting Words NI invites applicants for the role of Writing Our Selves Project Evaluator.
Fighting Words NI (FWNI) empowers young people to discover the joy and power of writing, unlocking their creative potential, fostering literacy, communication, and confidence. Because creative education helps transform the educational experience for the most marginalised students, we prioritise young people aged 6-24 facing disadvantage, operating year-round free workshops for schools and community groups. We ensure that every participant feels genuinely valued and deeply supported, regardless of their background or abilities.
In 2025 Fighting Words celebrated its 10th anniversary, and launched the new 3-year strategy. FW’s 7-member team, supported by its Board, Youth Advisory Panel, 35 volunteer mentors, and freelance facilitators, delivers programmes directly in diverse and hard-to-reach locations. Annually, the organisation offesr 3,000 unique participation opportunities across various writing genres.
The Writing Our Selves Project Evaluator – a new consultancy role – will report directly to the Schools Programme Manager to evaluate the first year of a three-year schools residency project, Writing Our Selves.
You will analyse data and evidence collected throughout Year One of workshops and delivery in line with the existing evaluation framework, to outline outcomes achieved, challenges and successes, key learnings and recommendations for next steps as the project moves forward.
The Writing Our Selves Project Evaluator will be contracted as a freelance independent service provider and is responsible for their own tax and national insurance.
The role is flexible. Fighting Words envisages the role to be hybrid in-person and remote. The organisation encourages the right candidate to discuss their needs and working hours with us.
