Island Arts Centre – Plein-Air painting introduction and tutorial – Free – 14 May

Do not be put off the experience of Plein Air Painting if you cannot acquire all of the materials below – if you have the rudimentary basics and lots of enthusiasm and being ok with a stiff breeze – that’s enough!

Plein Air is the act of painting outdoors. As part of the Northern Ireland Mental Health Arts Festival Island Arts Centre invite all budding artists experienced and newbies to join us on our Plein Air adventure.

The organisation is offering a free Plein-Air painting introduction and tutorial on Thursday 14 May from 10am.

RUA Artist Paul Jordon will guide us in everything you need to know to inspire you to get outside and paint.

This is a relaxed informal session aimed at slowing down, looking again at the natural and scenic areas that surround us here in Lisburn. We are building towards more Plein Air Events and an Exhibition in our Community Arts Walkway.

Please see the materials list below.

Note: Acrylic paint may be preferable for this session due to the quicker drying properties. Oil Paints can be used. If so, it is recommend using a drying agent such as – Alkyd medium or Rustin’s paint driers. These will accelerate the drying time, even though, oil paints will still be ‘wet’ for a day or two!
