Led by local radical and labour historian John Gray, this tour of radical Belfast will follow in the footsteps of the United Irishmen when Belfast was the most revolutionary centre in the British Isles. It will chart the emergence of the trade unions during the era of Belfast’s breakneck industrial expansion and visit the battlegrounds of the 1907 Dock Strike and recall James Connolly’s last Belfast speech. Many of the sites involved have vanished or changed but the spirit of Belfast radicalism lives on in the modern era as we confront the struggles of our times.
