This year’s May Day Belfast Festival 2026 was a massive success with great support from our colleagues in the Trade Unions and Belfast City Council’s Community Festival Fund. Each year the festival has grown deeper and wider in its breadth, and this year was no exception. This year it was CAP’s privilege to work with artist
Fiona Ní Mhaoilir and five groups of young people from across the city to design and silkscreen their own T-Shirts. This work was enabled through participation in the SEUPB’s PEACEPLUS Programme, Féile an Phobail and Belfast City Council.
Other highlights this year include the walking tour “Stars and Strikes” with contemporary artist Aisling O’Beirn, local legend Fergus O’Hare, poet Matthew Rice and musician Sean McKenna. Thanks as always to the Belfast Trades Council, ICTU and Reclaim the Agenda.
