Speculative Fiction Workshop with Rosemary Jenkinson – 27 June

Join writer Rosemary Jenkinson for an engaging introduction to speculative fiction, a genre that uses imagined futures, dystopias and utopias to explore urgent truths about the world we live in today. Through discussion of classic examples and practical writing exercises, participants will develop ideas, experiment with setting and character, and begin crafting their own speculative stories. Suitable for both new and experienced writers, this hands-on workshop offers fresh creative inspiration alongside insight into the wider fiction-writing process.

Jenkinson is an award-winning short story writer, playwright and novelist whose debut dystopian novel The Memorisers (2025) was praised as ‘brilliantly speculative’ in The Sunday Times. She is a Major Artist with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast.
