Adult String Player Day – The Benedetti Foundation – 26 July

The Benedetti Foundation will be holding an Adult String Players Day at the Girdwood Community Hub, 10 Girdwood Avenue, Belfast, BT14 6EG, on Sunday 26 July 2026. The day is open to adult violinists, violists, cellists and double bass players aged 18+ who would like to develop their playing in a welcoming, inspiring and supportive environment.

Led by Benedetti Foundation tutor, conductor and violinist Alex Laing, participants will work on repertoire including Britten’s Simple Symphony (Movement 1) and Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings (Movement 4: Larghetto). The workshops will focus on expression, sound production, freedom in playing, storytelling, musical context and technical development, with materials provided in advance to help participants prepare.

The sessions are designed for adult string players aged 18+ and are most suitable for those playing at intermediate to advanced level (approximately Grade 4/5 and above). Full bursaries are available for anyone for whom the participation fee or travel costs would otherwise be a barrier.

We would be very grateful if you could share this opportunity with your members, participants, colleagues or wider community who may be interested. Whether they are returning to their instrument after a break or already play regularly in amateur ensembles, we hope they will enjoy the chance to spend a day making music in a friendly and encouraging environment.
