Sincerely Yours: A Contemporary Exploration Across Cultures – Part 2 – Written by Shahrukh Asad

Jawad Ahmed Jan’s work introduces another distinctive voice within the exhibition through his delicate treatment of silhouettes, reflections, and forms. His works Mirror Silhouettes, Mirror Silhouettes 33, and Mirror Silhouettes 35 reveal a remarkable attention to detail, where carefully developed compositions create a sense of depth, quiet movement, and visual sensitivity. The subtle nature of his imagery encourages the viewer to slow down and engage closely with the surface of the work.

His practice stands out through the balance between delicacy and strength. The refined quality of his silhouettes creates a different energy within the exhibition, complementing the portrait-based works while offering its own visual language. The fascination with these works comes from the way detail and simplicity exist together, creating images that feel both fragile and powerful.

What I admire most about this exhibition is the way Muhammad Zeeshan has brought together such diverse practices in one space, allowing each artist’s visual language to remain visible while creating a meaningful connection among Pakistani, South Asian, and Northern Irish perspectives. Curated Frame Art Gallery provides a thoughtful setting for this exchange, where different approaches to the human figure can coexist.

The exhibition becomes especially interesting through the way it brings different histories of art into conversation. The influence of classical Western portrait traditions, with their attention to form, character, and the presence of the individual, sits naturally alongside contemporary approaches that explore identity, emotion, and new ways of seeing. Each artist brings their own language and value, creating a balance between tradition and innovation.

The strength of Sincerely Yours lies in this diversity. Paintings and sculptures from different cultural backgrounds do not compete with each other; instead, they complete the exhibition’s larger narrative. Muhammad Zeeshan’s thoughtful curation creates a space where these different practices come together, making the exhibition a memorable visual experience and a powerful reflection of how contemporary art continues to connect people across cultures.
