Flax Art Studios and Belfast South Residency Opportunity: Callout to Visual Artists – closing 15 July

Flax Art Studios working in collaboration with Belfast South supported by NI Housing Executive is offering a community focused artist residency opportunity, for two enthusiastic community engaged artists to live and work in Sandy Row from 1 August and 31 October 2026.

The Residency Space – Where you will work and live:

Flax Art Residency space on Blythe Street comprises a newly built dedicated arts studio/workshop space 60sqm on the ground floor and a two bedroom live-in artist apartment on the second floor. We share the building and work in collaboration with Belfast South (Formerly Belfast South Community Resources).

The three month residency will take place in Blythe Street, Sandy Row, a historic inner-city community in South Belfast with a strong sense of identity, shaped by its industrial heritage and a long tradition of close-knit community life.

DEADLINE For submission WEDNESDAY 15TH JULY AT 12 NOON:
Shortlisted artists will be required to attend an informal zoom conversation on Monday 20th of July.

Please submit your CV, Artist Statement 6 recent images of your work or link to your website/Instagram. One A4 proposal of plans for the workshops/working with the community and details of your experience of leading workshops and particular interest in living and working in Sandy Row. Please send your application via email to facilities@flaxartstudios.org by the deadline of Wednesday 15th July at 5pm.
