Harmony Beyond Borders is a unique cultural celebration that showcases the power of music to connect people across nations, traditions, and communities. Through the expressive voice of the Guzheng, one of China’s most treasured traditional instruments, this special performance invites audiences on a journey of heritage, storytelling, and cultural exchange.
The evening features acclaimed Guzheng artist Wei Deng, a Global Talent Visa holder, member of the Musician’s Union UK, and International Ambassador for the Global Promotion of Chinese Guzheng Art. Holding a Master’s degree in Arts Management from Queen’s University Belfast and certified by the Central Conservatory of Music, China, Wei has performed across China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Northern Ireland, promoting intercultural understanding through music.
The programme includes “Yù” (pronounced “yoo”), an original Guzheng composition inspired by Chinese artefacts and collections housed within National Museums NI. Drawing upon historical connections between East and West, the piece explores themes of memory, identity, and cultural heritage.
