Belinda Larmour: Exhibition of paintings in the Oriel Gallery, Antrim Castle Gardens

Belinda is an artist fascinated by the tension between control and chaos in painting. How to balance the desire for clear structure with the delight of allowing paint to flow freely.
Some of her paintings can be recognised as people or places, some are semi-abstract landscapes, while others have a fluid underwater feel or are totally from the imagination. All the paintings are made with water-based media, either acrylic on canvas, watercolour on paper, or watercolour and ink on Yupo – a synthetic surface which allows the paint to move very freely.
An award-winning artist and member of the Ulster Watercolour Society who lives in Newtownabbey, for many years the focus of Belinda’s work was on portraits, but recently she has enjoyed sketching outdoors and experimenting with paint in the studio.
