International coproductions are exemplary of partnership-based, dialogue-oriented collaborations. We promote collaborative work processes and innovative productions involving international cultural exchange. In doing so, we support the creation of new networks and approaches within global contexts, while exploring innovative methods for intercultural collaboration.
Conditions of Funding
Whom we fund
With the IKF, we fund professionally active artists, ensembles and projects in the performing arts (music, theatre, dance and performance) both abroad and in Germany, with insufficient means of their own to realise international coproductions.
Only legal entities based outside Germany are eligible to apply. Projects must be planned and implemented in a dialogue-oriented partnership with artists, ensembles, or initiatives in Germany. Eligibility is determined by the applicant’s primary place of residence and work, not by nationality.
Legal entities include, for example, cultural institutions, associations, foundations, ensembles, or other organized bodies. Natural persons are not eligible to apply. However, individual artists may submit an application if they are organized as a legal entity and submit the project through that legal structure.
In particular, we welcome applications for funding from developing and transition countries.
