Poetry NI – Submission Calls – closing 30 Nov and 15 Dec

Poetry NI have two new submission calls.

BIG POEM ENERGY: AUDIO ANTHOLOGY

We’re putting together another audio anthology of poems, and this time it’s an open call: we want your poem recording!

  • Deadline: 30th November 2026

FORSAKEN POEMS

Most likely, every poet shares a similar joy in finishing writing a poem, or getting something published. But how long does that joy last for? Occasionally, as time passes and we change and mature as people, we can rediscover an old poem and find that it no longer resonates with us.

Perhaps at the time of publication, we felt the piece worthy and adequate. But in the here and now, it becomes something alien, outdated, even disowned. We cringe as what we now see as a clumsy metaphor; we wince at the awkwardly forced rhyme; or simply, we no longer agree with the stance. We have moved away from the person that wrote the poem back then, and consequently, the poem becomes a kind of embarrassing relic.

If you have a poem like this (published or unpublished), send it to us, along with a short passage on why the poem no longer speaks to you. The poems will be available in a free digital pamphlet, available for download from our website. We look forward to discovering your small voyage of removal.

  • Deadline: 15th December 2026
