An exhibition of the finest work being created by talented GCSE and A-Level art students from the Ards and North Down Borough has opened at Ards Arts Centre in Newtownards.
The Next Generation art exhibition which is hosted by Ards and North Down Borough Council, showcases the work of GCSE and A level pupils from nine schools in the Borough: Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College, Regent House, Glastry College, Bangor Grammar, Glenlola Collegiate, Strangford College, and Movilla High School.
In the run-up to the Creative Peninsula in August, the exhibition celebrates the wealth of creativity being produced by local students. Recognisable for exuberant talent and vivacious, raw, uncompromising work, the exhibition is an exciting annual event and introduces visitors to the next generation of artists in the local area.

The exhibition was officially opened by The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gillian McCollum on Thursday 3 July.
Speaking at the event, The Mayor said: “I am extremely impressed at the range of work on show, from incredible fine art to print, textiles, fashion, sculpture and ceramic pieces. The range and high quality of the collection demonstrates the wealth of creativity our young artists have to offer. Well done to each and every pupil who has contributed to such a beautiful and diverse show.”
Amy McKelvey, Community Arts Development Officer said: “This is always a lovely exhibition to curate and every year we are excited to see the incredible work being done in schools throughout the Borough. It is a celebration of our young people and their dedicated teachers, all who have worked so hard over the years to raise the artistic talent of the next generation of artists.”
The exhibition opened at Ards Arts Centre, Newtownards on Friday, 4 July, and runs until Wednesday 23 July. Admission is free.
