Do you write in a political way?
I would not be a writer who was really in your face politically. I tend to be quite subtle and for me, that’s an important part of my process.

Do you see yourself as part of a movement. Is there the emergence of young women writers like yourself in Honduras at this point in time?
I don’t see myself as part of a movement because of the way that publishing works here. If there are groups of writers emerging, say a particular generation of writers, perhaps you could say a movement, but they are mostly the ones who usually are the owners of the editorials, the owners of the magazines, the owners of the media. That tends to be a very close knit group of men. They are the ones who determine who gets published.
So even though there are women out there writing, some of my peers are writing as well, even though we are, of course, a new generation, those men who control publishing tend to close their doors to us. It really is a bit of a boys group, sadly.
That sounds like a very difficult situation to navigate?
Well when you see what these people do, the process you have to go through to get published, I think that maybe it’s not the place that I want to go. You still have to find a place to get your material out there.
Your work is published on a website, La Babel Subterranea?
Yes, most of my work is there. But I am working on a different space that will be available hopefully soon. But that will be more of a political place. Like all the things that I cannot publish because they are too political, they are written with the intention of being political will be going to another website and I am also writing material which I am saving for a physical publication.
