Teens Creative Writing Workshop, ‘Genre Mash Up’ – 15 Apr

What happens when a romance unfolds in the middle of a zombie outbreak? When a cowboy rides into a futuristic surveillance state? When a reality TV competition hides a dark supernatural secret?

During this three week workshop, we won’t just write stories, we’ll invent something entirely new. We’ll start by pulling two completely different genres out of a hat and over the three weeks, we will fuse them together into a bold and unpredictable narrative. Along the way, we’ll discover what makes horror terrifying, romance irresistible, thrillers gripping and fantasy unforgettable.

We will learn how to develop dynamic characters, construct high-stakes plots and craft cinematic opening scenes to hook a reader in.

This is a space for big ideas, creative risks and fearless storytelling. No experience is required, just curiosity. For lovers of books, movies, games and everything in between.

Tutor: Wendy Sinnamon
