Sharon Kelly – Disposal of Fullness – 2 May to 20 June

Sharon Kelly’s work explores memory, experience, and imagination through a range of art forms, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and installation. She focuses on the body and examines both physical and emotional experiences, often exploring themes like fragility, strength, change, and in-between states. Her ideas are inspired by subjects such as anatomy, medicine, dressmaking, and sport.

In this exhibition at the Golden Thread Gallery, Kelly focuses on what is hidden or overlooked and how it shapes identity and connection to the world. Using worn clothing, old sewing patterns, and delicate materials, she explores emotions linked to concealment and burden, revealing traces of past lives and what may be missing.

Pockets become symbols of quiet spaces that hold secrets and memories, where both precious and heavy feelings exist together, reflecting personal history and women’s experiences.
