Presented in partnership with Cercle français de Belfast, an evening of readings in French and English.
Friends from Cercle français de Belfast share poems from Ciaran Carson’s From Elsewhere alongside the original Jean Follain poems with kind permission from Gallery Press and Gallimard.
From Elsewhere is another reach into another source by the translator of The Inferno of Dante Alighieri, The Táin, The Midnight Court and poems by Mallarmé, Baudelaire and Rimbaud. From what he calls Follain’s ‘humble, resonant and mysterious’ poems, Ciaran Carson, one of the outstanding poets of our time, fetches glories from the ‘elsewhere’ of another territory and another language.
