Exhibition: My World in Wool by Sharyn Kelly – 30 July to 29 Aug

An Exhibition by Sharyn Kelly

30 July – 29 August 2026

August Craft Month is brought to you each summer as a partnership between the Design & Crafts Council and Craft NI, who are now in the fifth year of promoting, growing and sharing audiences for craft makers.
From Donegal to Dublin and Tyrone to Tipperary, creativity is coming to every corner of the island. With 450 events, and over 2,500 makers involved, they say that this year’s programme is one of their busiest yet!
Strule Arts Centre is proud to support this annual creative collaboration. For August Craft Month 2026, local artist and arts tutor Sharyn Kelly invites us to her first solo exhibition, ‘My World in Wool’.

Inspired by the beauty of County Tyrone’s rolling countryside, woodland walks and ever-changing scenery, Sharyn transforms wool and richly coloured fibres into striking works of art that capture the textures and spirit of the natural world. Working primarily in mixed media, she combines traditional wet felting techniques with lino printing and calligraphy plates to create expressive pieces that blur the boundaries between fine art and textile design.

Sharyn’s work reflects her passion for experimentation, using wool’s unique versatility to create both intricate two-dimensional artworks and sculptural three-dimensional forms. Each piece is a personal response to the landscapes she loves, inviting visitors to see familiar places through a fresh and imaginative lens.

“Wool is a naturally beautiful, versatile material, allowing me to creatively express our beautiful Tyrone landscapes. I love experimenting to create both 2D and 3D forms.” – Sharyn Kelly

Whether you’re an art enthusiast, textile lover or simply enjoy celebrating local creativity, My World in Wool offers a warm, uplifting exhibition that showcases the beauty of nature through the tactile and colourful medium of wool.
